Job Description

The client has identified a need for rationalisation of the gas supply from Eaglesham to Newton Mearns. Currently the Newton Mearns TRS (also known as Humbie TRS) is supplied with gas from a 19-Barg high-pressure (HP) pipeline originating at Eaglesham TRS about 3 miles distant. The gas pressure is reduced at Newton Mearns TRS to Medium Pressure tier (MP) to supply the local district.

Under the rationalisation plan, a new Intermediate Pressure (IP) connection will be made within the Eaglesham TRS and a new IP pipeline laid to a new DPG within the existing Newton Mearns TRS. The new Newton Mearns DPG will reduce gas pressure from IP to MP tier and feed the local district. This will render the existing Newton Mearns TRS redundant. It will be isolated, decommissioned and demolished. The branch HP main serving it will be isolated at the connection with the parent main by means of existing valves and abandoned.
