Site Manager - Tyne & Wear

Job Type: Permanent

Location: Washington, Tyne & Wear

Salary: £36k - £42k per annum

Benefits: Company vehicle, 20 days plus bank holidays (increases to 25 days after 12 months service) and pension contributions

Hours of Work: Full Time

Start Date: ASAP


Based from Offices Washington office in the North East of England, the individual will ensure the effective management and delivery of multiple water contracts, ensuring programme requirements are met whilst working in line with both Company and divisional objectives and achieving the client and customer aspirations and expectations. To manage contracts to achieve targets in respect of safety, time, cost, quality and customer satisfaction.


The daily duties will include:


Management of construction activities

  • Safety. Ensuring site standards maintained, assisting risk assessment, accident investigation, site instructions and inspections.

  • Production. Working to programme.

  • Quality. Ensuring standards of workmanship maintained. Ensure completion of quality records, ensuring maintenance of process-capability

  • Problem solving / trouble-shooting


Control of costs

  • Manpower

  • Materials

  • Plant and vehicles

  • Damages and thefts


Liaison with Health & Safety Manager

  • Working together to improve standards through joint site inspections and reviews of site monitoring results

  • Dealing with improvement notices


Liaison with Water Operatives

  • Working together to ensure safety, quality and environmental standards are achieved

  • Dealing with actions from technical audits

  • Development / maintenance of competency levels


Liaison with Planning Manager

  • Construction planning


Liaison with Clients’ representatives:

  • Progress meetings

  • Day to day

  • Liaison with local authorities & other bodies in connection with site activities


Management of site personnel:

  • Recruitment

  • Discipline

  • Manpower planning

  • Employee development

  • Communication

  • Man management


Control of plant, equipment and materials

  • Administration

  • Documentation. Quality records, as-laid information, time sheets, work records, etc

  • Meetings. Planning, Contracts Manager, Senior Agents, Agents

  • Other duties as required by manager


The successful candidate will have the following:


  • Extensive experience of working mains projects

  • NRSWA Units 1+10-15

  • Water Safety Passports

  • Supervisory Management Training

  • IOSH / SMSTS

  • Willing to travel on a weekly basis.

  • Full UK driving license
