Job Description


To provide 2 instrument maintenance technicians to support the client’s maintenance works on operational gas sites. One technician will support in the Yorkshire area, and one will support in the North area. Due to the requirement for the client to invest in training and mentoring of the technicians, there is a requirement for dedicated resource for the duration of this contract.


The Network Maintenance & Capital Projects delivery team are responsible for circa 6000 above ground assets, comprising of, high pressure offtake sites, pressure reduction stations and district governors.


The E&I team have identified delivery challenges and require support to meet delivery targets. The team are seeking to provide support for the below activities:


  • Instrument maintenance delivery support

  • Instrument standby support (out of hours)


Instrument Maintenance Delivery Support:


The team currently have a large workload to deliver and require support with the below work activities:


  • Maint 12 – Instrument maintenance (re-calibration / verification of instrument systems)

  • ATEX Inspections – Detailed

  • Instrument remedial actions

  • CAPEX Work supervision

The work is spread over the full geographic area of the network and split between the North and Yorkshire areas.


Instrument Standby Support:


The team currently operate separate standby Rotas for instrument in both the North and Yorkshire areas. The standby Rotas are organised as a daily rotation and currently operate on a 1 in 4 frequency.


Standby coverage commences at 16:00 – 08:00 mid-week and 08:00 – 8.00 (following day) on a weekend.


Technicians undertaking standby must be located within the network to ensure fault response times are met.


Mandatory qualifications required:


  • Instrumentation Apprenticeship (BTEC / ONC)

  • Instrument NVQ Level 3

  • Compex 1-4


Preferred qualifications required:


  • Instrumentation HNC

  • SHEA Gas Passport (EUSR)

  • SCO 1,2,4,5

  • TEM 3

  • Confined Space Trained (Medium Risk)

  • EL6 Restricted Authorization (DNV) for NGN or another UK GDN


Preferable Experience:

  • Fieldbus Systems

  • Calibration of field instruments (Pressure / Temperature)

  • Telemetry System Maintenance Checks

  • Gas conditioning / LGT system maintenance

  • Gas quality / Chromatograph Maintenance

  • UPS System maintenance

  • Software Maintenance checks

  • Interpretation & Remediation of instrument drawings

  • Compiling instrument test results

  • DSEAR Inspection of instrument loops & equipment

  • Maintenance of fiscal metering systems (USM / Turbine / Orifice)

  • FWACV System maintenance.
