Job Purpose

To effectively plan and monitor our gas mains laying activities in line with the construction programme. Interfacing with local authorities in relation to agreeing access dates, resolving Section 74 fines, Traffic Management Act penalties and Section 84 defects. A sound knowledge of both NRSWA and the Traffic Management Act is desirable for this position as is knowledge of Microsoft Project /Primavera planning software.

Principal Duties and Accountabilities

  • Responsible for providing the scope of work to be carried out, together with resource availability.

  • Ensure correct scheduling of work through efficient use of resource in terms of keeping teams fully employed.

  • Ensure sufficient staff availability to execute the required level of work.

  • Interfacing with the commercial team to ensure the early identification of cost issues and producing appropriate action plans.

  • Analysis of Management Information to enable any financial and or resource issues to be identified and resolved at an early stage.

  • Coordinate the interface with relevant administration and programming team to ensure the construction programme is kept up-to-date.

  • To minimise our financial exposure by interfacing with local authorities through regular meetings to resolve Section 74 fines, Traffic Management Act penalties and Section 84 defects.

  • Attend local authority liaison meetings to discuss future workload and notice requirements.

  • To carry out any other duties appropriate for this post.

Requirements:

Work Based Competencies

  • A good overall knowledge of gas distribution procedures

  • Experience in scheduling and planning of works

  • Able to demonstrate experience of programme/project planning tools and techniques

  • Being commercially minded and able to control  budgets is paramount 

  • Good Organisation and Planning skills

Behavioural Competencies

  • Good communication skills are required and the ability to interface with senior level internal and external Stakeholders
  • Excellent Influencing skills
  • Decision making and people management experience

Qualifications

  • A relevant management /engineering qualification would be desirable
