Operations Manager

Details: Purpose of Post:
  • The Operations Manager  will report directly to the Managing Director / General Manager.  Manage the provision and installation of utility infrastructure from job acceptance to completion through a range of contracts and by cost-effectively deploying resources available to satisfy customer, safety and environmental needs whilst working within the commercial and corporate governance frameworks to maximise profitability.
  • To work in conjunction with delivery department to meet client requirements.
  • To contribute to the overall objectives of Sustainable Energy Connections.
  • To ensure that the Operations department is providing a highly efficient, economic, safe, customer focused and high quality service to all clients.
  • To work closely with the Senior Management  staff to deliver service improvements to meet the requirements of all clients.
  • To be responsible for the implementation of information to project files ready for completion.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible in delivering service improvements to the Operations department of Sustainable Energy Connections to meet defined objectives for the team.
  • To be responsible for the project files from pricing to installation of all projects to ensure that the service is delivered effectively and efficiently.
  • To work with the General Manager in the implementation of the Health and safety management System.
  • To be responsible in the implementation of the training and development programme for the Operations department.
  • To be responsible in the monitoring and reporting of the financial performance of the Operations department.
  • To be fully conversant with the administration of Sustainable Energy Connections’ policies regarding equal opportunities and diversity.
  • To liaise with external construction and supply chain partners, ensuring effective partnership working with other key service deliverers.
  • To have a flexible working approach with the opportunity to training programs.

Key Areas:

  • To assist in the development and implementation of new and innovative ways of working in all aspects of Sustainable Energy Connections with the objective of increasing effectiveness, efficiency and eliminating waste.
  • To be accountable  in the work programming of projects with the Operational department.
  • To contribute to Sustainable Energy Connections achieving Best Value, including fundamental best value reviews and performance plans.
  • To assist in the delivery of the Sustainable Energy Connections Strategy and Delivery Plan,
  • To ensure that Sustainable Energy Connections Financial regulations and standing orders are complied with.
  • To assist in the implementation of a programme of service improvements to meet performance targets and the objectives of Sustainable Energy Connections.
  • Operate office systems in order to process invoices, purchase orders, maintain accurate records and access information in support of the CM and OM.
  • Analyse and report on changing legislation in relation to NRSWA, TMA, recommend changes to systems / processes to ensure requirements are adopted and integrated into Sustainable Energy Connections systems and processes.
  • Work with the Senior Management team to ensure compliance of NRSWA in line with the forecasted workload.
  • Work in conjunction with client for implementation of CDM regulations for delivery of sites.
  • To ensure that Health and Safety legislation and good practice are complied within the unit.
  • To ensure a pro-active approach is taken to Equality and diversity issues within the service.
  • To achieve a third party quality assurance management system and to maintain the same. 
  • To be responsible for the preparation of reports on the overall performance of the Sales Department.
  • To assist in maintaining the unit’s Quality Assurance systems.
  • Liaison with other staff to collate details of operatives working times to allow for wages to be paid.
  • Operate office systems in order to process invoices, purchase orders, maintain accurate records and access information in support of the General Manager
  • Be accountable as a member of the Project Delivery Team in order to ensure effectiveness, efficiency and consistency across the organisation.
  • To maintain service compliance with changes in legislation / regulations / best practice and to advise the Management Team as required.
  • To assist in the maintenance and operation of a list of approved contractors.
  • To obtain all necessary statutory and other approvals for allocated work.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade and falling within the scope of the post, as requested by Management.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years operational senior management experience within the gas industry
  • Qualified to a minimum level of HNC/HND/NVQ level 4 or hold membership to an appropriate professional institution. (i.e., member of IGEM)
  • SCO registered as an Authorising Engineer
  • Valid and current driving licence.
  • To have worked with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
