Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Details:

We currently require an Electrical Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Distribution) to contribute through-life engineering expertise to enable the AWE electrical distribution networks to be planned, designed, constructed, operated, maintained and decommissioned in a safe, secure and economic manner.

Key Responsibilities


Strategic Planning

  • You will undertake and maintain network load forecast studies, and prepare and maintain Strategic Asset Management Plan with Network Manager.

Configuration Management

  • You will undertake network load management to ensure new electrical loads are able to be accommodated and to prevent electrical overload.
  • You will provide specialist electrical monitoring services for current, voltage level and power quality and maintain the IPSA network computer models and network schematics.
  • You will undertake specialist technical studies such power systems analysis; review engineering content of new schemes to ensure conformance to Directorate strategy and assess changes to electrical networks through Change Control process.

Regulatory Compliance

  • You will understand relevant statutory and regulatory requirements, provide DI ‘Intelligent Client’ status for electrical distribution issues and demonstrate network integrity and regulatory compliance.

Engineering Consultancy

  • You will provide in-house engineering consultancy and manage supply chain for specialist services, advise on electrical distribution matters for all through-life stages and review Safety Cases & Cases for Continued Operation.

 

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • HND/Degree in Electrical Engineering.

Knowledge:

  • Electrical networks, equipment and their technical standards.
  • Electrical safety legislation.
  • ‘Authorised Persons’ Safety Rules and Procedures.
  • Safety rules and procedures of electrical monitoring.

Experience:

  • Electrical engineering, including development of strategies and policy design, operation, configuration control and maintenance.
  • Managing a multi-discipline technical resource.
  • Best practice project management.
  • Contract management and the on-site control of contractors.
  • Planning, budgeting and organising work, recognising interactions and impact with other work programmes.
  • Ability to achieve DV security clearance. (Nuclear registered site).
  • Medically fit work in radiological and hazardous areas at AWE(A) and AWE(B).
  • ECA H&S assessed with Electrical Site Manager CSCS status (3 yearly).
  • Passed Electrical Safety & Resuscitation course (3 yearly).
Salary:   £32K – 36K Dependant on individual and whether contract or permanent direct.
