We urgently require someone to manage the Asset Replacement of Substation Plant and Equipment in the South of England & Wales.


Job Purpose

Management of the Asset Replacement of Substation Plant and Equipment in the South of England and Wales.

Experience in the development and delivery of electricity projects is essential, along with a sound track record of asset, project or design management, production of engineering documentation and the writing of high quality investment papers.

Specialist knowledge of HV plant and configuration is also a requirement and knowledge of Overhead Lines, HV cables and protection & control would be advantageous.
Good knowledge and experience of UK of H&S requirements and the CDM Regulations are a requirement as this role involves representing the Sponsor and acting as "Client" for investment projects.
Applicants should preferably have knowledge & experience of either the operation, maintenance or development of the Electricity Transmission System.
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels across all business units are necessary.

Knowledge of the business, commercial issues, public relations and the regulatory framework within which investment proposals are made is preferable.

An awareness of resource issues, eg. system access, contractor and manufacturing capability is required.

Experience in managing projects or leading multi-disciplinary teams is a requirement.

Job Dimensions
Responsible for the programme management of multi-million pound schemes within the asset investment portfolio of the capital plan.

Main Intefaces include Commercial, MDE, ENI Asset Policy /Health /Eng, Land and Development, Network Operations, Legal, Transmission Finance, Core Construction, Alliances and Sanctioning Authorities.

Key Tasks
The development and implementation of asset management strategy to maintain /manage the Capital Plan for substation Investment in the South of England and Wales. Representing the Sponsor and leading Investment Teams to initiate, monitor and close Capital /Revenue Investment Projects associated with the the Asset Replacement of substation plant and equipment, along with Load Related Connection & Infrastructure Projects to provide Customer entry /exit connections and/or the reinforcement of the Electricity Transmission System in the South of England and Wales.

This includes:

  • The preparation and prioritisation of the investments for inclusion within the investment plan.
  • Assessment /appraisal /review of drivers.
  • Writing Investment Papers.
  • Managing the investment process.
  • Undertaking the duties of Client.
  • Review & Closure of Investment Projects.
  • Liaison with directly-connected customers, such as Distribution Network Operators, on asset replacement schemes and scheme development issues.
  • Developing & implementing Asset Investment processes & procedures to achieve world-class performance.
Requirements:
  • Degree or HNC in an engineering, science or numerical /commercially biased subject
  • Qualifications leading to membership of a relevant professional body preferable.
